Das Wetter wird schöner und die Urlaubszeit steht bevor.
Wer kennt das nicht, man fährt in den Urlaub und sucht verzweifelt nach einer schönen Postkarte für die Lieben daheim…oder man sitzt zuhause und bekommt die wunderschönen Karten vom anderen Ende der Welt.

Da sich eine liebe Bekannte kurz vor unserem letzten Urlaub eine Postkarte von mir gewünscht hat, und ich kurz davor das wunderbare Soft and Stable Vlies von ByAnnie ausprobieren durfte, hat sich in meinem Kopf eine Idee zusammengebraut.

Warum eigentlich keine Postkarte aus Stoff verschicken?
Gedacht, gegoogelt und…fündig geworden:
Also, die Idee gibt es bereits und die Post scheint (zumindest in den meisten Fällen) auch mitzuspielen. Nun stellt sich aber die Frage nach dem Design der Karte. Viele nehmen einfach ein Stück ihres Lieblingsstoffs, quilten diesen auf ein passendes, stabiles Vlies und kleben ein Stück Papier als beschreibbare Seite auf die Karte. Die Karten sind wunderschön, keine Frage, aber mir fehlte da ein klein wenig der Bezug zum Urlaub. Daher habe ich mir ein eigenes Motiv überlegt, mit Hilfe der Paper Piecing Methode zusammengenäht und mit dem Endergebnis war selbst ich zufrieden (was nicht selbstverständlich ist ;o) ):

Einfach die PDF-Datei ohne Skalierung auf ein A4-Blatt ausdrucken (falls euch zu viel Farbe auf der Anleitung sein sollte und ihr Tinte sparen wollt, einfach in Schwarz-Weiß ausdrucken 😉 )

Die Stoffe für die Vorderseite habe ich mir aus alten Stoffresten zusammengesucht. Das Tolle hierbei ist, dass man aufgrund des kleinen Designs auch endlich die kleinen Stofffetzen loswird, die sich unten in der Restebox angesammelt haben. *lach*

Für die Rückseite habe ich einfach die klassischen Linien einer Postkarte mit der Hand auf ein etwas dickeres Stück Papier genäht (ihr könnt es natürlich auch mit der Maschine machen, ich fand die „Unordnung“ des Handstichs einfach schöner :o) ). Den Rand habe ich, wie beim klassischen Quilt, zuerst an die Vorderseite der Karte genäht und dann, nachdem das Papier der Rückseite festgeklebt war, einfach umgeklappt und mit Sekundenkleber an die Rückseite geklebt.

Da ich aber doch etwas Angst hatte, dass die Karte aus Amerika nicht richtig zugestellt werden könnte, habe ich diese noch schnell am Abreisetag hier in Deutschland zur Post gebracht und glaube, dass es eine gelungene Überraschung für die Empfängerin war und diese sich sehr gefreut hat.

ACHTUNG: Da die Karte dicker als eine „normale“ Postkarte ist, benötigt man etwas mehr Porto als bei einer Standardkarte. Am besten einfach beim zuständigen Postamt kurz nachfragen wieviel der Versand kosten soll.
